Summary
Taking Luke 24:13-35 as his central text, Dimitrios Panagopoulos presents the risen Christ as the foundation of humanity’s hope of resurrection. He recalls the Paschal appearances, from the Theotokos and the Myrrh-bearing Women to Peter, the Emmaus disciples, and the apostles. Cleopas and his companion, confined by grief and disappointed expectations, fail at first to recognize the Lord. Christ answers without resentment, teaching forgiveness of injuries, and shows from Moses and the Prophets that the Cross and suffering precede glory. Trials may therefore purify each soul along its appointed path. Scripture must be studied attentively, yet salvation belongs to Jesus Christ alone, for “there is no other name” given to humanity (Acts 4:12).
